Assist Orthopaedic Surgeons in setting specialized traction apparatuses and applying, removal of patient casts and splints. Responsible for performing duties as first assistant to the orthopaedic surgeons in the operating room. Assists surgeons when necessary in surgery, Emergency Department, Patient care floors, and on call on weekends. Provides clinical support to physicians in outpatient clinics. Educates patients and families on usage, precautions, and donning and doffing of orthopaedic devices, casting, traction. Educates clinic staff on usage, precautions, and donning and doffing of orthopaedic devices, casting, traction application. Follows DME procedures for electronic charging and compliance. Assists with DME inventory management. Provides age specific care to patients from neonates through elderly. Performs non-patient care duties and cross coverage of other positions within the practice as assigned. Takes responsibility for self development and supports a learning environment. One to two years experience in a medical setting. Working knowledge of Medical Terminology, anatomy and physiology required. Understanding of purpose and goals of orthopaedic treatments and devices preferred. Knowledge of sterile technique preferred. Ability to relate well to other people and be considerate of their conditions. Displays the ability to work in a team environment. Able to multi-task and work independently. Proficient PC skills, including MS Office products. Familiar with operation of standard office equipment. Ability to apply casts, braces, splints, and traction.

High School Equivalent / GED Experience in cast application and splinting preferred.
