Executive Legal Assistant to Chief Judge

State of Connecticut Judicial Branch

Hartford – Appellate Court

The State of Connecticut Appellate Court is seeking an Executive Legal Assistant for the Chief Judge of the Appellate Court.  The selected candidate will perform a variety of special assignments and administrative functions such as: typing, photocopying and distributing draft Appellate Court opinions; preparing and distributing the court’s conference agenda; screening mail, telephone calls and visitors; typing a variety of memoranda, correspondence and reports; scheduling appointments and meetings; maintaining calendars; requisitioning supplies; maintaining filing and record keeping systems; entering information into a computer database; preparing a variety of statistical reports; coordinating the annual Appellate Court law clerk interview schedule; ensuring office coverage, distribution of general office duties and timely completion of assignments; performing other related duties as required. 

Salary Range: $65,760 - $89,504/year – plus State of Connecticut benefits. New employees begin at the minimum.  The starting salary for existing state employees may be higher than the minimum, in accordance with existing Judicial Branch policy.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

General Experience: Six (6) years of secretarial work.

Special Experience: Three (3) years of the General Experience must have been in a legal environment.

Substitutions Allowed:
1) College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years.
