Works under the direction of a responsible RN to provide safe, efficient, age-specific nursing care to patients and families in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain and/or sustain optional health status.  Essential duties include:

1. Direct patient examination and monitoring.

2. Direct patient care delivery (includes ADL’s, hygiene measures, select treatments, patient/family education, discharge preparation)

3. Communication and documentation of interventions and observations.

4. Participation in quality improvement process.

        5. Involved in learning and self-improvement

Education

Entering senior year of professional nursing program with satisfactory academic record and GPA of 2.5 or greater. Demonstrates communication skills, completion of theory and clinical experience in assigned clinical area. Written recommendations from clinical instructor.

Experience & Knowledge:

Thorough knowledge of nursing process and practice

Preferred completion of their pediatric rotation or pediatric experience in a healthcare setting.  Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies (i.e. stethoscope, thermometers, glucometers, and electronic monitoring devices).
