Summary

The King County Employee Giving Program (KCEGP) within the Department of Human Resources (DHR) seeks a highly motivated, organized, and dynamic professional to serve as a Project/Program Manager III.

As a key member of the KCEGP team, the Project/Program Manager III will oversee Employee Engagement and Development work to provide opportunities for all employees to meaningfully connect to causes they care about. This position will report to the Employee Social Impact and Well-Being Manager and work closely with the team to develop and deliver training, programming, events, communications, and marketing materials to support the goals of the program. The KCEGP raises more than $2 million annually to benefit nonprofits supporting the community. There are five lines of business which serve employees and the community year-round.

Job Duties

Applying equity and social justice principles is a daily responsibility and a foundational expectation for all King County employees. This role will apply equity and social justice principles that exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices in all aspects of the work. As the EGP Project/Program Manager III, you will:
  • Manage and deliver the Ambassador Program from recruitment to recognition to effectively engage and develop Ambassadors who are the bridge between participating nonprofits and County employees. Provide training and develop materials both in-person and virtually to enhance the e-learning curriculum and experience.
  • Manage the coordination and delivery of programming such as the Annual Giving Drive and volunteering, and events to include Nonprofit Expos and Annual Celebration.
  • Plan and deliver dynamic communications and marking materials utilizing multi-mode communications that Ambassadors and employees can use through communications plans and templates. Develop communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
  • Recruit and lead a team of Short-Term Temporary Campaign Assistants to provide excellent customer service during the Annual Giving Drive. Coordinate work and develop the team through coaching, training, and mentoring.
  • Review and update KCEGP processes and products with a focus on accessibility and equity.
  • Identify opportunities to apply equity and social justice principles to enhance the work and delivery of training, processes, and the overall employee experience.
  • Work on a variety of other project and assignments in support of KCEGP.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
  • Knowledge and experience in workplace giving, employee giving, volunteering, or related experience.
  • Excellent project management skills, including planning, programming, event management, communications, community engagement.
  • Experience developing others through coaching, training, or mentoring.
  • Experience developing training materials, user guides, process documents, and other materials to enhance learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and timelines with significant communication needs.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels both internally and externally.
  • Experience with web-based communication platforms.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds, including sensitivity to and knowledge of various ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic groups.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with multiple internal and external partners to meet shared objectives.
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience with workplace giving software, customer relationship management software, and/or other related systems.
  • Experience developing e-Learning and video tutorials.
  • Experience with digital communication to include email lists, blogs, and social media.
Other Position Information
This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime-eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40-hour workweek, normally 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining agreement and is classified as Project/Program Manager III; class code 2441300.

This recruitment is open to King County employees and the public and will be used to fill one Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) position or Special Duty Assignment (SDA). The assignment is anticipated to last up to two years.

Note: Special duty opportunities are open only to current King County career service and appointed employees who have completed their initial probation. Special duty applicants must have approval from their supervisor to accept an assignment. Current employees selected for special duty will be compensated based upon the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement or Coalition Labor Agreement for their base assignment.

Teleworking Requirement
The work associated with this position will be performed predominately through a hybrid work schedule of onsite and remote work. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
