Job Summary | The University of Utah is now accepting applications in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics for the position of Director of Broadcasting. Utah is a NCAA Division I school in the Pac-12 Conference, and becoming a member of the Big 12 Conference in the summer of 2024. Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for performing television play-by-play for multiple sports for Utah’s Big 12 Now/ESPN+ game broadcasts, and managing the scheduling, hiring, evaluating, and training of play-by-play broadcasters and analysts for said broadcasts. The position also includes but is not limited to, responsibility for planning and creating original storytelling content to maximize in-broadcast institutional inventory and present the University of Utah in the most beneficial way. The position is deeply integrated with the department’s communications and digital & creative media teams for the short-, medium and long-range planning of content ideas, and plays a direct role in the creation of content for Utah Athletics’ digital and social media channels. Additional responsibilities include conducting interviews with coaches, student-athletes and staff, and potential future content such as coaches shows, podcasts and other original content. Responsibilities | The Director of Broadcasting will be responsible for overseeing and managing the broadcast talent for Utah Athletics’ broadcasts of home athletics competitions for Big 12 Now/ESPN+, provide play-by-play for a number of broadcasts, and play a direct role in the creation of original content showcasing Utah’s 20 sport programs, under the direction of the Sr. Associate A.D. for Strategic Communications.

Minimum Qualifications |
Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred. |
Preferences | Proven experience as a play-by-play broadcaster for intercollegiate athletics competition, preferably at the high Division I level. |
