To deliver and maintain complex information and telecommunications networks and systems to support the Airports' commitment to elevate the air travel experience.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

  • Provide daily support of infrastructure and ensure constant staff, tenant, and customer support on all IT systems recognizing that the Airport operates on a non-stop basis and that IT is an integral part of that operation.
  • Responsible for the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, and support of all IT systems including but not limited to  email, disaster recovery, access control, airline shared-use systems, flight information data systems, telephones, fire alarms, wireless systems, paging, desktops, routers, and licensing.
  • Analyze complex business needs and recommend technical solutions.
  • Lead IT strategic and operational planning.
  • Provide project management for all IT projects.
  • Prioritize IT initiatives and coordinate the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems and technology.
  • Prepare technical reports/evaluations and make written/oral presentations.
  • Develop justification and analyses for IT spending, RFPs, and initiatives.
  • Participate in all hardware and software evaluations and maintain vendor contracts.
  • Oversee contracted IT service providers and vendors, determine the best use of external resources. Establish vendor contracts and relationships to ensure best performance.
  • Direct and prioritize the work load of subordinate personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5 to 10 years of progressive broad based experience in all areas of the information technology.
  • 3 years senior management experience with proven track record for moving the organization forward.
  • Combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the duties of this position may be considered.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
  • Certifications including VMware Certified Professional, MCITP/MCSE, CCNA, and additional IT certification(s) that distinguishes skill set on network security.

  • Manage a project from concept to production.
  • Organize information into a coherent and meaningful format with attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.  Strong presentation and communication skills are required. Able to generate accurate written reports.
  • Read and interpret technical data and troubleshoot technical/mechanical problems.
  • Observe activities on a 3-dimensional basis.
  • Make immediate sound decisions under stressful conditions.
  • Have excellent computer skills - able to use spreadsheet and word processing programs.
  • Coordinate use of Airport resources, work independently and use good judgment.
 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push and pull objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Job functions require sitting for extended periods, standing and walking frequently, and stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, carrying, climbing and reaching occasionally. Must be able to traverse rough terrain, climb ladders, and crawl through small spaces. 
  • Extensive wrist and hand movements required for frequent keyboarding and use of office equipment.
  • Ability to perform close work to read and use computer required. Requires distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 
  • Ability to continuously exchange information through listening and talking with customers, coworkers, and other individuals required.

 SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Subject to a ten (10) year background check for security clearance.

WORKING CONTACTS WITH OTHERS (INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL):
Regular contact with airport management, employees, tenants, vendors, and the general public.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS, TRAVEL, ENVIRONMENT AND POTENTIAL HAZARDS:
Work is performed in office, terminal and on airfield.  Occasional exposure to construction equipment, aircraft engine noise and exhaust (hearing protection required and provided). Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions. Regular local travel, some extended travel.
 
EQUIPMENT OPERATION REQUIRED:
Vehicles including automobile, pickup truck, and utility vehicle; two-way radios; office equipment including computers and copier.

Spokane Airport provides generous a generous benefit package.  Currently, we cover employee at 100% and dependents at 90% of the premium cost.  We offer three plan choices for medical coverage through Kaiser Permanente.  Dental coverage is through Washington Dental Service (Delta Dental).  Additionally, the Airport provides life insurance at two times the annual salary.  Optional life insurance is also available.  Short term and long term disability is also provided by the Airport. Retirement is through the Washington State Department of Retirement System - PERS Plan.  Parking is provided.

The Airport recognizes 11 holidays.  Vacation is earned at eight (8) hours a month for the first five (5) years and increases every five (5) years.  Sick leave accrues at eight (8) hours a month.  The Airport also provides military and jury leave.
