Regular Days Off: Saturday and Sunday
Supervision Received: The Marketing Manager reports directly to the Director of Marketing and Website Administration and indirectly to the Executive Director of Communication, Marketing, and Branding.
Supervision Exercised: None.
Salary: $62,000-$65,000 (To commensurate with education and experience)

General Statement of Duties: The Marketing Manager is responsible for promoting the University's mission and vision through the development and implementation of integrated marketing and communication plans for academic departments, University programs and offices, and key strategic priorities. Working closely with the Executive Director of Communication, Marketing, and Branding and the Director of Marketing and Website Administration, the Marketing Manager will ensure these plans and strategies align with and support the University's integrated marketing and communication approach by serving as a liaison between the Marketing and Communications team and other areas of the University. The Marketing Manager will serve as the primary project manager for multiple marketing plans to ensure clear communication between units, collaboration on shared goals, and timely delivery of materials and outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but not limited to:
Essential:

  • Lead the development and execution of marketing strategies and plans for specific programs, offices, and University stakeholders under the guidance of leadership within the Marketing and Communications unit.
  • Serve as project manager and traffic manager for plans and projects to ensure timely delivery of materials, adjusting plans as necessary to fit within the University's integrated marketing and communication plan, staff availability, competing priorities, and budget restraints.
  • Ensure accurate, regular, and clear communication between the Marketing and Communication team and other University stakeholders by holding in-person and online meetings with University partners, freelance support, and external vendors, reporting the results of these meetings back to the Marketing and Communication team as needed, serving as an advocate for projects requested by University stakeholders.
  • Assist the Executive Director and Director with project management on key University initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison between members of the Marketing and Communications productions team (graphic design, photography, social media, copywriting, website management) and members of the University community to ensure accurate deliverables that meet agreed upon objectives.
  • Develops and shares marketing plan reports and other analysis requested by internal stakeholders including University leadership and external vendor partners and suggests strategies for improvement based on results of analysis.
  • Contributes expertise and creativity to projects as a Marketing and Communications team member and as an individual contributor to production team depending on past career experience and skills (writing, design, photography, videography, etc.).

Non-Essential:

  • Serves on campus committees as requested.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 5-7 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of marketing and communication strategies and techniques, including digital and print deliverables, website development, photography and videography development, social media strategies, and media relations.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including experience with project management software preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal skills, including demonstrated ability to understand the needs for a marketing and communication plan, help a partner develop objectives and explain the relationships between desired objectives and deliverables.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, functioning at different levels of leadership for different projects.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.


Additional Information:

Salary:
For the majority of new employees, the minimum starting salary will apply. Specific salary for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining and state policies and procedures.

Covid-19 Requirements:

As a condition of employment, you will be required to complete an initial series of COVID vaccination (2 doses of Pfizer/Moderna or 1 dose of J&J) prior to coming to campus.
