Job Description

We at the Norman E. Alessi MD Clinic are excited to be recruiting both full and part time licensed or limited licensed clinical social workers. Applicants with experience and interest in working with children, adolescents, and adults with moderate to severe mental health conditions are preferred. We are a growing mental health practice lead by Dr. Norman Alessi, Professor Emeritus and former Departmental Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Michigan medical school. The Alessi Clinic uses cutting edge therapeutic modalities including Ketamine-assisted Psychotherapy, and executive function coaching. The Alessi Clinic facilitates infusion-based ketamine assisted psychotherapy. We are looking for clinicians interested in helping advance this very promising therapeutic treatment regimen.

Additional medical conditions and populations we currently serve:
High functioning young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
Teens, and college age young adults with ADHD, with executive functioning difficulties.
College age through to adults, treatment resistant OCD, anxiety, PTSD and mood disorders.
All ages of those who are facing end of life decisions.
The successful candidate will be characterized by having a passion for collaboratively working with and helping others maximize their potential, along with a desire to expand one's own clinical knowledge base. They will demonstrate a positive demeanor and interest in joining a cutting-edge mental health practice.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
Assess, interpret, and diagnose mental, social, and emotional disorders.
Use motivational interviewing principles to form therapeutic relationships with patients.
Provide psycho-education support and resource information to clients and family members.
Provide practical assistance to clients in following treatment plans.
Monitor and evaluate progress towards treatment goals and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
Monitor and update Dr. Alessi regarding side effects of psychotropic medications being prescribed.
Participate in all assigned Ketamine and other clinical treatment trainings.
Participate in the assessment and monitoring of patients who will undergo ketamine treatment.
Participate in the team facilitation of ketamine assisted psychotherapy
Maintain current and accurate clinical records in a timely fashion.
Coordinate the delivery of care at the clinic, at school or home, as clinically indicated.
Perform light research/ analysis, including topic reports, survey creation and assist with publications.
Develop individualized and targeted treatment plans for, and in collaboration with, patients.
Use treatment interventions such as behavior modification and individual /group /child +family therapy.
Research and refer clients and family members to other services where necessary.
Participate in weekly supervisions and quarterly work evaluations with the Senior Clinical Social Worker.

Qualifications:
Master's degree in social work (MSW) with full license and mental health work experience is preferred.
Master's degree in social work (MSW) with a limited license and MH work experience will be considered.
Sound working knowledge of multiple treatment modalities.
Good understanding of neurodiverse populations and developmental stages.
Familiarity with all aspects of psychopathology and a working understanding of the DSM-5.
Previous mental health work/internship experience with children, adolescents and adults.
Basic understanding of psychotropic medications.
Experience in crisis intervention.
