We are seeking a Parking Specialist to join our team that provides excellent service to all King County residents and park users. The Parking Specialist monitors and maintains the parking fee collection system equipment at Marymoor Park, located in Redmond WA.  This position will ensure smooth operations of the parking fee pay stations including troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing regular maintenance, enforcing the parking program fees and protocols, data collection, and collecting cash in the machines and reporting fees.

Work Schedule: This position works 40 hours per week and is overtime eligible.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assure smooth operation and maintenance of the parking fee collection system, including troubleshooting and performing regular maintenance of parking fee collection machines.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of parking equipment by communicating with vendors for repair and replacement of machine components, maintaining records of all repairs, and keeping organized inventory of parking machine components and other supplies needed for the parking program.
  • Monitor parking fee collection process. Collect parking fees, review pay station audit reports, research and address reporting discrepancies and/or make recommendations as needed.
  • Monitor parking enforcement processes.  Assure violation notices are clearly written within established guidelines and are entered and recorded into the violations database regularly.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all park patrons regarding issues with the parking fee pay station or provide other assistance as required within the scope of position responsibilities.
  • Identify and coordinate tasks for temporary parking program staff.  Assist with recruiting and training temporary staff.
  • Monitor, evaluate and record work processes related to the parking fee systems using continuous improvement best practices.
  • Monitor and collect data relating to parking fee compliance, parking lot capacity, park traffic and flow, field capacity and other data as needed.
  • Assist in directing roadway traffic or directing vehicles to park in lots for events.
  • Monitor all parking program vehicles for smooth operation and notify mechanic regarding any issues.
  • Perform other parking program related duties as assigned.
The most competitive candidates will have strong customer service skills and the mechanical aptitude needed to maintain and troubleshoot electronic parking pay station issues. They will be a skillful problem solver with the ability to organize and prioritize work tasks.  In addition, they will have demonstrated abilities as follows:
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills to successfully communicate with a wide audience in varied communication settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues with small electronic components.
  • Knowledge of the safe operation and maintenance of assigned equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of procedures for working safely in areas with vehicle traffic. Skills in recognizing and troubleshooting safety hazards.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment by building rapport and promoting cooperation among team members.
  • Skill in communicating clearly and respectfully, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and to handle difficult situations daily.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and to prioritize work tasks.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience applying equity and social justice principles and practices in a business setting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Skill in leading, directing and training others is highly desirable.
  • General knowledge of Marymoor Park and regional area is a plus!
Necessary Special Requirement
  • Possession of a valid Washington State Driver's license at the time of appointment required.
  • The ability to use power tools and operate equipment on a continuous basis.
  • The ability to perform physical labor with weights up to 75 pounds.
  • The candidate must be able to work on uneven slopes, surfaces, grades and terrain in inclement weather and other adverse conditions.
