Director for Housing Capital and Facilities Planning

This is a particularly exciting time as Housing and Residence Life is in the process of implementing a multi-phased Housing Development Plan in excess of 300 million dollars, and is focused on developing progressive student-centered residential programs at the University.

The Position:

Reporting to the Executive Director of Housing and Residence Life, the Director of Housing Capital and Facilities Planning is responsible for representing the Housing and Residence Life staff and students in the design and construction of multiple and complex facility renovation and construction projects. This position also provides support and assistance with Facilities Management and acts as a liaison to examine auxiliary facility needs, residence hall maintenance, custodial, and ground concerns as they transform into larger facility needs, and renovation projects. This position is responsible for directing and planning workforce needs for Interior Services including training and development of staff; management and recommendation for budgets and financial resources; and recommendations for future planning, efficiencies, and improvements. The incumbent will also provide support and oversight for labor relations issues, resolve customer concerns, develop and implement special projects, and interpret and implement policies and procedures for all related needs providing architectural, construction and project management, interior design services, support and assistance ensuring optimal physical conditions for all Housing and Residence Life Facilities, approximately 2.3 million gross square feet on 147 acres.

The Director must be a good critical and creative thinker, demonstrate excellent judgment, display excellent interpersonal and communication skills, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices. Qualifications:

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Construction, Project Management, Interior Design, Architecture or related field of study is required. In addition, three years of project management experience at the administrative level in a large institution, auxiliary, or housing/hospitality related operating is required. Must have experience in human resources and experience in a university setting is preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to manage and supervise full-time staff. In addition, the successful candidate will possess strong written/verbal communication skills, including public speaking, and the ability to make sound decisions.
