Overview

The mission of Princeton University Department of Athletics is to strive for excellence in academics and athletics, while embracing equity in opportunity, good sportsmanship, and ethical conduct. In keeping with this mission, the role of the Assistant Coach of Water Polo is to provide quality varsity programs which will challenge and develop the physical, mental and personal abilities of student-athletes of Division I programs.

Responsibilities

• Coach water polo in a substantive manner that is consistent with the educational mission of the University.
• Assist in the preparation necessary to compete at the Division I level.
• Assist the head coaches with the planning and execution of all practices.

• Successfully identify and recruit student-athletes within the framework of the University guidelines and policies.

• The assistant coach will be responsible for a wide variety of administrative tasks including but not limited to CARA Forms, recruiting logs, calendars, rosters and other various reports for NCAA and Ivy League compliance related issues.
• Work effectively with administrators, the support staff, and other coaches and programs within the Department of Athletics.
• Communicate effectively with various institutional constituencies (e.g., faculty, administration, students, parents, staff, alumni and friends) in order to strengthen programmatic integration with the University.
• Assist with the development of the Friends Group.
• Adhere to NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent coaching experience.
• Successful background in coaching water polo.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage team dynamics.
• Demonstrated organizational ability for practice, program management, and recruiting.
• An understanding of the fundamental role that intercollegiate athletics, properly implemented, can play in the educational development of our student-athletes.
• Ability to uphold the commitment to Department of Athletics mission and values of Education Through Athletics.
• Proficient with MS office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification subsequent to the date of hire.
