Job Summary:

The EPIC Training Coordinator (Principal Trainer) works collaboratively with the Project Director and Project Managers as well as other source owners to develop a Training Plan that meets the needs of end-users. The Training Plan will establish project time lines, tasks, and milestones in collaboration with the vendor and in accordance with overall project plan goals. Additional responsibilities include: collaboration with the application teams to build and maintain the training environment (MST), regular communication with end-users and representatives throughout Upstate department locations on a routine basis in preparation for application training, as well as for post-training assessment.
Essential Functions:
1. Achieve and maintain Epic certification in a designated application, develop training curriculum and prepare all training materials for end-users i.e. E-learning modules, printing manuals, tip sheets, learning companions, etc.

2. Lead the training efforts of end-users for the designated application, ensuring that the credentialed trainer(s) are prepared for end-user training, understand the training materials, and maintain competency.

3. Prepare training schedules, agenda, course materials, job aids and post training competencies that are role specific. Training material should be available in multiple training modes as appropriate.

4. Responsible to provide end-user support, including off-hours support, as needed.

5. Prepare troubleshooting documentation as necessary for end-users, the help desk staff, and application team members.

6. Review Epic release notes in preparation for implementation during planned upgrades.

7. Participate in workflow confirmation, refining test scripts, testing scenarios, and application testing.

8. Schedule rounding sessions within the designated departments, to facilitate open communication with end-users.

9. Additional responsibilities to support IT related applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Health Administration, Nursing or related discipline and 2-3 years relevant experience, preferably in a healthcare provider setting. Workflow/systems analysis experience required. Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong analytic, interpersonal skills and customer service orientation required.  otherwise, must obtain Epic Principal Trainer Curriculum and TED certifications within one year from hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current certified or credentialed EPIC Trainer is strongly preferred; experience with either EMR or Practice Management implementation, support or training strongly preferred. Must have strong interpersonal, communications, analytical and organizational skills.

Work Days:

Days Mon-Fri off hours on an occasional basis
