The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)-Driver is responsible for the safe operation of the UH CCT ambulance. This includes assuring all vehicle and medical compartment systems are functioning properly and are ready for patient care and transport. The position is primarily serving neonatal through adult patients who require ground transport by ambulance. The EMT-Driver will be required to complete both didactic and experiential learning during orientation and demonstrate ongoing proficiency in their vehicle operations skills. In addition, the EMT-Driver is expected to have a working knowledge of the medical equipment, both on board and portable, that is used by the medical team prior to and during patient transport. This position requires decision making skills to assure safe operations of the vehicle and the safety of its passengers/patient during diverse traffic and weather conditions. Ongoing training and education require substantial investments of time and this position requires obtaining and maintaining advanced certifications (EMT, BLS, EVDT etc.). Additionally, this position may be assigned to provide vehicle operations and support to EMS-I services such as community events and disaster response. High school diploma or GED required with completion of state of Ohio EMT education, current EMT certificate, and two years of experience driving an ambulance in an urban and rural setting with a busy 911 or active interfacility ambulance service.

High School Equivalent / GED EMT w/ current cert to practice in Ohio. BLS. Current driver license (CDL pref). Emergency Driver Training Course cert (by completion of Orientation)
