The Vice President of Information Services is an essential leader in driving vision and strategies that allow EBSCO to provide exceptional clinical decisions service offerings that support our mission to improve healthcare provider satisfaction and improve patient outcomes.  As technology leader reporting to the Executive Vice President of Clinical Decisions, the SVP of Information Services will work with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the continual sourcing, intellectual processing, and publishing of evidence-base medical information.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the vision, strategy, and execution to build differentiated, delivery-focused, and impactful CDS information services.
  • Work with leadership and cross-functional teams to continually identify capabilities in Clinical Decisions’ information services that maximizes customer success.
  • Reusability, discoverability and interoperability as key drivers.
    • Develop strategy for tagging and improving discoverability/searchability of Clinical Decisions content
    • Develop metrics for assessing quality of key components of Clinical Decisions products and how they compare to competitors in the market
  • Drive continuous improvements to enable clinical content contributors to scale efficiently and effectively according to their information workflow demands.
  • Negotiate and maintain partnerships with vendors to accomplish service offerings.
  • Aid in defining infrastructure requirements to ensure inter-operability across a varied healthcare installation base.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of IT leadership experience and 5 years in a senior IT management positions.
  • 10+ years of relevant information management experience in a business or clinical systems environment and familiarity with process/performance improvement methodologies, system implementations, and workflow analysis.

 

  • An entrepreneurial track record of successfully delivering business results in rapidly evolving markets, preferably through growth of the customer base and service acquisitions.
  • Prior experience building and strong leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Solid understanding the technical issues of US healthcare systems interoperability.  Concentration on HL7 FHIR standards is preferred.
  • Prior involvement in a complex, large scale, information services environment is required.
  • Experience with the internationalization of products and services to a global market is a plus, especially within the medical information systems domain.

Skills

  • Capacity and resilience to develop, build, and grow strong working relationships at all levels of leadership, management, across teams, across departments and with partner organizations.
  • Familiarity with knowledge management systems including clinical ontologies, coding systems and clinical vocabularies such as SNOMED, ICD 10/11 and RxNorm.
  • Solid appreciation of information discovery strategies such as structured/unstructured query techniques and natural language processing.
  • Ability to lead change management efforts and increase operational excellence.
  • Proven record of meeting commitments, proactive problem solving, critical thinking and project execution skills.
  • Demonstrated exceptional remote and in-person verbal and written communication skills.
