TITLE: Director of College Advancement

DIVISION: College Advancement & External Affairs

SUPERVISOR: President, Northwest Iowa Community College

BASIC FUNCTION: Direct, lead, and manage NCC’s comprehensive community college Advancement office; and work closely with the College President and Foundation Board in resource development to support the College mission, vision, values, and strategic goals.

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field.
Minimum of two (2) years of related work experience which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties/responsibilities of the position.
Microsoft Office proficient.

PREFERRED: Master’s Degree.
Five (5) years of related work experience.
Bilingual in English and Spanish languages.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop, direct, manage, and perform operations for the Foundation resulting in the development of resources including major funds acquisition, annual campaigns, special events, planned giving programs, alumni programs, and major gift and capital campaigns in concert with the Foundation Board.
2. Work cooperatively with the President to promote and educate the public as to the College mission, vision, values, goals, and opportunities to support the College. Cultivate positive relationships with individuals and leaders of the local business community to develop their interest in NCC and the Foundation.
3. Assist in the development, implementation, and execution of the NCC and NCC Foundation strategic plans. Set overarching strategic goals for the Advancement office.
4. Recommend, develop, and direct Foundation activities. Communicate with current and prospective donors. Develop strategies and processes to identify and solicit gifts from potential donors. Maintain records related to Foundation activities and results, and prepare transparent, easily understandable reports.
5. Coordinate Foundation activities with College President and Executive Council to ensure efforts and projects are concentrated in areas of greatest need which are compatible with the priorities of the College and Foundation Board. Oversee Foundation events designed to enhance and advance friend and fundraising efforts.
6. Recruit strategic members of the Foundation Board of Directors. Develop and work with them to design and implement strategies created for fundraising, cultivation, and/or donor recognition purposes, including special events. Plan and prepare for Board meetings and its committees.
7. Manage a portfolio of major gift level prospects through the cycle of development—from research and identification through cultivation, solicitation, closure, and stewardship.
8. Generate public relations materials and news releases from the College and Advancement office.
9. Develop, plan, recommend, and implement the Foundation annual budget, policies, and procedures. Monitor expenditures in accordance with College guidelines.
10. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of data to provide accountability for meeting advancement goals and assessment of Foundation operations. Work with Business Office on financial statements and auditing processes.
11. Supervise and evaluate Advancement staff performance, including recommending the hiring, retention, advancement, and discipline or dismissal of personnel within the division.
12. Serve as a member of the President’s Executive Council.
13. Remain informed and responsive to trends in philanthropy and issues affecting fundraising.
14. Participate in professional development activities that support the position.
15. Perform other duties as assigned by the President of Northwest Iowa Community College.

WAGE/SALARY RANGE: $55,000-$70,000 annual salary based on experience and education.
