The City of Red Bank has an immediate opening for an IT Specialist. This is a full-time, non-exempt (1)
position, providing a broad range of support activities for the City and its respective departments including city
administration, public works, fire department, and police department. The employee will work with the City's
IT vendor and CIO to facilitate information technology-related tasks including software support, maintenance,
repair, upgrades, and installation of computers, software applications, printers, and wireless networks.


JOB OVERVIEW
The right candidate will provide:
Technical support to employees and coordinate troubleshooting with employees and the City's IT vendor
May be required to respond to after-hours emergency requests
Work closely with program personnel to ensure accurate and efficient inflow and outflow of computer data
Support the City's website and audiovisual (AV) technology equipment
May be required to attend city meetings and operate AV equipment for live meetings.
Supervision Received: The employee works under the general supervision of the designated Chief Information
Officer (CIO). On occasion, independent judgment must be used to accomplish tasks.

Salary and Benefits:
(G5) $46,900.00 annually - Day Shift M-F 8:30a-4:30p + excellent benefits.

After having met the above requirements, candidates must successfully complete the following:
- Oral interview board composed of a combination of departmental members.
- A comprehensive background check, including but not limited to, criminal, financial, and personal history.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the effective operation of all City Information Technology (IT)

- Uses computer systems or applications to access, create, edit, print, send, retrieve, or manipulate data,
files, or other information
- Ability to monitor, maintain, enter, update, and verify computerized information
- Reads and understands technical or other complex materials required for the digital transformation of
City tasks
- Processes or analyzes data using computer systems or applications
- Diagnoses computer hardware, software, or system malfunctions or problems
- Ensures network and recovery processes are functioning correctly
- Serves as a primary point of contact for all things related to IT
- Coordinates troubleshooting with employees and with the City's IT vendor
- Provides technical advice in subject matter to others
- Oversees the maintenance of computerized databases or information tracking systems
- Selects the proper tools, equipment, machinery, parts, computer equipment, or software to perform
work activities
- Maintains and troubleshoots wifi and wireless access points for City properties
- Occasionally repairs, installs or removes network cables
- Makes improvements, solves problems, or takes corrective action when problems arise
- Creates and maintains documentation for computer systems, applications, and programs
- Assists with implementing new IT operations in the City from the initial idea to the project completion
- Adds, retrieves, or removes data and material from the computer network
- Assists with the maintenance of the City website including software integration
- Assists with maintaining employees'; email accounts, telephone system, access control systems, and
security/video systems
- Assists with maintaining internal and external network security for the City's network
- Manages and provides support for the City's audio/visual systems
- Be available to operate audio/visual systems a couple of times a month, after normal work hours
- Recommends and/or provides recurring cyber security training for city staff
- Assists with developing and managing the IT budget including making recommendations for a capital
replacement plan
- Provides or recommends technology-related training as needed to City staff
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Handles confidential information with tact and discretion.


DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associates Degree in Information Technology Information Systems, Computer Science or related
field or have successfully completed equivalent vocational or trade school or work certificate.

Requirements: Ability to perform arithmetic problems with a high degree of accuracy and consistency and
strong critical thinking skills. Understanding of computer hardware, software, computer networking, and
knowledge of other office automation equipment and systems involving a variety of software applications.
Ability to manage projects from beginning to completion. Knowledge and ability to operate audiovisual
equipment including various types of displays, projection equipment, microphones, amplifiers, and mixers.
Ability to work independently or with a team on a variety of tasks. Must have the ability to communicate
effectively, both orally and in writing.


Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible formal training or extensive on-the-job experience
related to installations, upgrades, maintenance, networks, and data storage of information technology.
Experience with computer networks and system administration. Experience with Web site development and
management. Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess, or be able to obtain prior to appointment, a valid Driver's License without any record of
suspension or revocation in any state
- Pass a comprehensive criminal background check including a fingerprint check
- Successfully complete all required criminal justice training and comply with standards set by the
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).


TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Ability to operate a telephone, cellular phone, fax machines, and copiers. Must also have the ability to operate
computers, printers, computer systems, computer and networking tools, computer cables, and
troubleshooting tools. Potential use of Motor vehicles, access control systems, and security camera systems.
