The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is a national leader in the financing and development of affordable housing and community development lending. DHCD has an immediate opening for a Financial Compliance Auditor and Administrative Support. This position is responsible for financial compliance oversight for a variety of federal programs and collects all documentation necessary for reporting and audits. Additionally, this position provides administrative support to the Office of the Secretary staff managing day to day operations, maintaining staff schedules, arranging meetings, etc.

LOCATION OF POSITION

7800 Harkins Road, Lanham, MD 20706.

The Department of Housing and Community Development Headquarters is located in Prince George's County across from the New Carrollton Metro stop.

POSITION DUTIES

The primary responsibility for the Financial Compliance Auditor is to create internal controls and processes for the Office of Statewide Broadband (OSB), Maryland State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), Housing Assistance Fund (HAF), and Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). Additionally, this position provides administrative support to the Office of the Secretary and serves as the back-up for the Executive Assistant to the Secretary, and secondary assistance to the Directors in the Office of Public Information which includes marketing, communications and Community Engagement. The Financial Compliance Auditor and Administrative Support enhances the DHCD’s effectiveness by providing financial recommendation to management and administrative support to Executive Management Team, Directors, internal and external customers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:   Eight years of experience in administrative staff or professional work. 

Notes

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience. 

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. 

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with budget and/or finance, to include accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and/or billing.
  • Experience in office management (calendar maintenance, scheduling, filing, etc.).
  • Experience working with internal and external customers.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
