Boat Mechanic: 
$15-$30/hour based on experience, certification and ability to turn work. Apprentice, Rigger and Certified Mechanic positions open. While promoting new Yamaha, Honda and Evinrude Outboard Engines, the ability to handle other models taken in trade, etc. is valuable. We also offer Electric outboard engine options. Overtime hours available in summer months. Vacations encouraged in fall and winter months. For those interested, we offer subsidized additional training (generally offseason) to increase knowledge & experience required to move up pay scale. Online and video training also available. Compensation generally involves a base hourly rate with significant step ups for billable hours produced. New facility: 3 Bay Shop w/ heat and AC.
 
Boatyard Laborer:
Water World Marine in Durham is the Triangle’s largest boat dealer. Boatyard laborer responsibilities include working with our team to facilitate prepping/cleaning new boats for sale; arranging the yard by moving boats using our forklift and tractor; assisting in loading and unloading boats, motors, and trailers; and assisting with cleanup and presentation projects. This is vigorous, often outdoor, work that involves detail projects, mechanical aptitude, and some problem-solving skills.  Individuals exhibiting initiative and aptitude for mechanical training will also have the opportunity to start on the path toward becoming a certified marine mechanic. We attend several boat shows throughout the year and are open on Saturdays which will require some hours outside the usual 9-5, M-F, so please keep this in mind if you plan to apply.  Starting pay scale is $12/hour with designated “billable” projects paying $15/hour. 
 
Service & Parts Manager:  Responsibilities would include managing up to 3 mechanics, customer interface, ordering and receiving parts, maintaining the marina showroom, filing warranties and anything else from cleaning boats to selling small motors as needed at the moment by customer demand. People skills essential. Requires some but not extensive computer skills to look up and order parts and maintain mechanic pay spread sheets. Familiarity with boats and motors a plus. Salary starting at $32,000/year ($15/hr) with incentives easily attaining $40,000+/year.
