POSITION SUMMARY:
Providing quality care and services throughout the patient’s hospitalization under the supervision of an attending physician.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
Graduate of an approved PA program. Board eligible or certified. Licensed by the State of New York. Maintains CME and licensing
as required by New York State Department of Education. Maintain Clinical Affiliate status with SJHHC. Experience helpful, new
graduate welcome.
Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of
expertise.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
Clinical setting. Exposure Class I – routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretion or secretions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Meets physical demands for the position.
WORK CONTACT GROUP:
All services, employees, medical staff, patients, visitors, vendors, various regulatory and professional agencies.

Evaluation of patients through daily rounding, ordering and evaluation
of diagnostics.
Performs admission history and physicals.
Communicates with attending physicians regarding patient care.
Communicates with patient and patient’s family regarding diagnosis,
treatment and patient education.
Actively participates in patient discharge planning.
Effectively educates the patient/family in specialty area.
Adheres to hospital confidentiality statement.
