ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER

 Salary: $26.48 hourly 

Incumbent is responsible for investigating animal related complaints, impounding and caring for unlicensed, roaming, injured, mistreated, diseased, vicious or dangerous dogs or other animals.  Maintains accurate records of all activities, complaints, arrests and daily functions including redemption and adoption of dogs and receipts.  Captures, secures, transfers and impounds animals. Prepares and serves quarantine notices. Conducts surveys of dogs in the Town and prepares reports of unlicensed dogs.  

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and one-year professional experience caring for animals, including some experience in animal protection work. Must have a valid motor vehicle driver’s license.   

Selection Process

All appointments and promotions shall be made according to merit and fitness for performing the functions of the position, including factors such as education, experience, aptitude, knowledge, character, ethics, or other qualifications that would determine the best candidate for the position.  Examinations may include written, oral, physical, or performance tests or any combination of the various types of examinations.  Offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory results on a background check, pre-employment physical, drug screening and verification of information on the employment application.
