Hog Slat, Inc., the world's largest provider of equipment and turnkey facilities to the swine and poultry industries, is seeking an exceptional individual to lead our  team in our Concrete Slat Manufacturing plant in Milford, UT. The primary role of the person in this position is to direct and coordinate activities concerned with production of company product(s.)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other functions may be assigned as business conditions change.

  • Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Revises productions schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
  • Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
  • Hears grievances and refers unresolved grievances for management.
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages Line Supervisors in the Slat Plant.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the plant. 
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
 
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
The IDEAL CANDIDATE will have the following experience/educational background:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
One year certificate from college or technical school, or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANUGAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Forklift Operator’s License

COMPUTER SKILLS
General PC familiarity; Ability to use Outlook Email, Word and Excel in daily communication

WORKING ENVORONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts,  The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and/or extreme cold.
