Budget/Accounting Assistant
Dual Certification
Salary: Minimum of $4,014 to a maximum of $4,929 per month. The salary rate is based on the 2016-2017 salary schedules for unit members. This is a five step-salary schedule.
Position: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor assist in budget, accounting and inventory operations; perform as a full charge bookkeeper; perform a wide variety of analytical and complex technical accounting functions; prepare complex technical reports. Verify funding for purchase orders, stock requisitions and revolving cash vouchers; establish, manage and close ledgers and control accounts; interpret and apply appropriate laws, rules and regulations. Prepare detailed balance, statement and statistical financial reports; prepare a variety of documents utilizing word processing and spreadsheet software; record and deposit money; assist in the daily functions of payroll and perform related work as required.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by advanced studies and/or course work in accounting and bookkeeping and a minimum of four years of demonstrated progressive responsible experience in accounting, financial record keeping; and bookkeeping; or any combination of education and training that may be considered qualifying.
Knowledge/Abilities:
The qualified candidate will have the knowledge of modern methods, practices, concepts, and terminology used in budgeting, accounting and bookkeeping work; and the ability to accurately and rapidly post and make simple to complex arithmetic computations and record comparisons
Other:
A valid California driver’s license and insurability by the district’s carrier must be maintained at all times for insurance purposes.
Examination: Written examination = 40% Oral Interview = 60% Typing Test (30 word per minute) = Pass/Fail
