Our client, a vertically integrated cannabis company, is seeking a Director of Cultivation Operations – Facilities, to lead a division for their growing company.  Strong preference for candidates local to Chicago or Atlanta, but possibly open to remote candidates in the East or Central U.S. regions.

The Director of Cultivation Operations – Facilities will be responsible for overseeing the Facilities teams to ensure that buildings and their services meet the needs of the people that work in them. In addition, they are accountable for services such as safety, security, receiving and parking to ensure the surrounding environment is in a suitable condition to work. They will also be an integral partner to ensuring adherence to all federal, state, and local compliance needs.


Job Responsibilities:
 

  • Creates and implements standard operating procedures (SOP), internal processes, and compliance training.
  • Conducts daily reviews and ensures urgent corrective action to remedy all issues and deficiencies identified in our facilities nationally.

  • Facilitate the operational flow across departments within, production, orders/fulfillment, distribution, compliance, inventory, and security divisions.
  • Partners with all stakeholders, members, and staff alike, to create an attractive and safe environment at all times.
  • Lead and assist in auditing practices, enforce proper tracking & reporting activity.
  • Works with National and Regional Operations team to ensure delivery of all internal standards for facility maintenance schedules and process.
  • Manage, update and report daily facility activity using company systems and summarize information to support decision making.
  • Conducts regular maintenance inspections to ensure all equipment receives proper preventative maintenance on schedules created and or previously established, standard best practices, and or manufacturers, retail, and cultivation guidelines.
  • Coordinating and enforcing operational and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Plan, direct, manage, and perform general maintenance and preventative maintenance for all areas of the property.
  • Optimize the established preventative maintenance program to ensure regular and efficient inspections of equipment.
  • P/L management and Labor Cost Management.
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment as necessary to ensure proper use per manufactures specifications.
  • Ensuring all staff members adhere to OSHA general standard as it relates to a manufacturing facility and Safety SOP's, as well as assist in the adherence to Cannabis regulations.
  • Assists in managing the physical facility including equipment, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, envelope, equipment, and life safety systems.
  • Partners with housekeeping director to establish and manage an effective maintenance and cleaning program.
  • Oversee and participates in all capital improvement projects as needed by the construction team.
  • Ensure all vendor contracts are properly reviewed, negotiated, and executed according to standards and, when necessary, flagged to the executive team.
  • Provides guidance and recommendations for selection/recruitment/award and retention of world-class partnerships and commits to Gain, Train, and Retain.
  • Holds Facilities team accountable for the timely completion and accurate communication of brand initiatives, fostering a culture of accountability and driving brand momentum.
  • Manage relationships and serve as primary liaison for regular service vendors (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, cleaning, Co2, etc.)
  • Coordinate the procurement of all facility supplies, manage the existing inventory, and look to achieve cost savings.
     

Education and Required Skills:
 

  • 5-10 years of experience in facility management in a cultivation environment
  • Extremely detailed oriented and organized with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Proven expertise in operations management, team management, strategic and business planning methods, project planning and coordination
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment
  • Previous leadership experience including hiring, coaching and mentoring
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Experience building out new facilities and scaling existing footprints to meet the needs of a rapidly scaling business

Compensation: $110,000 -130,000 + competitive benefit plan
