Reporting to the EVP of Finance, Strategy and Operations, the Senior Vice President of Finance (EIS) will provide high-level oversight for all financial planning and analysis and accounting activities for our major product lines general and administrative (G&A) expenses for the Database, Discovery and EBooks Business Unit (DDE) and consolidation of all financials for EIS.  This includes strategic financial planning, budget analysis and management, capital planning, financial modeling and reporting, business case development, accounting and order management, and refining a forecast process.  The SVP of Finance will be part of the Finance, Strategy and Operational Leadership Team and recommend appropriate fiscal measures for achieving financial objectives and supporting growth.

 

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following areas:

 

  • Direct oversight of FP&A and Accounting teams focused on DDE General & Administrative management expenses and product lines, and overall EIS consolidation (4 Directs, Total team of 31)
  • Provide guidance to EVP of Finance, Strategy and Operations regarding current and future financial considerations, participates in short and long-term financial planning sessions and collaborates on developing and enhancing financial processes and systems
  • Responsible for recruiting and training the team to provide quality results for the organization as needed; Promotes key finance talent and identifies/resolves performance issues as appropriate
  • Lead financial planning and analysis including forecasting, reporting and analysis of revenue and expenses for DDE Business Division and EIS in aggregate
  • Lead the budgeting process for all product lines and G&A expenses and ensure the financial plan aligns with the business strategies
  • Responsible for all financial communication, including monthly performance, budget expectations, and long-range financial plans
  • Leads effort to proactively identify investment, continuous improvement and cost optimization opportunities across EIS.
  • Leads financial planning and analysis efforts. Directs development of internal systems to forecast organizations needs and report on financial results, and implementation of financial best practices.
  • Leads the accounting team and ensures we are following appropriate accounting guidelines and principles;  Additionally works directly with parent company corporate accounting group.
  • Responsible for developing and tracking financial KPIs;  Additionally, establish clear ROI metrics for major business expenditures
  • Develop and utilize complex financial models that drive data-driven insights for business leaders to make informed decisions
  • Build relationships across the finance/strategy team and collaborate with business stakeholders to understand the current state of the business and how to develop insights that can be easily understood and implemented to drive product line goals and strategies
  • Work cross-functionally to drive analytics on new business models, refine existing business cases, and analyze pricing for our major product lines
  • Collaborate with product leads and finance to ensure EIS is investing in and creating differentiated products and value propositions
  • Provide financial support of mergers and acquisitions

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree; preferably in accounting, finance, or business
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive finance and management experience
  • Minimum of 8 year leading a team that delivered monthly reporting and analysis to business stakeholders
  • CPA or strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Proven leader with high energy, confidence, and demonstrated ability to influence others
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; Ability to solve problems, think creatively, and provide recommendations with sound business judgment
  • Experience creating and developing core financial, planning and analysis skills within a team
  • Experience interacting and navigating across a matrixed organization
  • Superior communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills

 

Target Annual Compensation Range: $245,000 - $350,000

 

This Pay Target range includes a bonus target of 25% of base salary. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s work location.
