Summary: 


In conjunction with department leadership, ensures effective operational, human resource and financial management of assigned department(s) or function(s), ensuring quality, cost-effective and efficient work flows and processes, resulting in a positive patient experience. Accountable for implementation, sustainment and financial viability of current and new initiatives that impact the growth and development of related departments, functions and/or programs. Serve as a role model, and a clinical, and operational resource person.Works collaboratively with service line and support staff on identifying opportunities for new or revised programs to ensure patient access, service line growth as well as development of an effective, high quality, skilled and motivated workforce. Responsibilities:


1. Oversees, supports and makes contributions to patient safety by:
a. Providing a safe environment for patients.
b. Identifying and correcting root causes of errors.
c. Implementing systems to prevent errors.
d. Subscribing to the principles of responsible reporting of adverse occurrences, near misses, and safety concerns.
e. Providing evidence-based care.

2. In conjunction with department leadership, ensures effective operational and human resource management of assigned area(s) by:
a. Participating in the development, implementation and execution of short and long-term strategic, business, marketing and operational plans.
b. Working, in collaboration with leadership, to establish and implement goals, policies, procedures and standards.
c. Monitoring and evaluating operational effectiveness; making recommendations regarding revising and/or enhancing administrative procedures and/or operational and informational systems.
d. Coordinating, evaluating, and recommending for approval major equipment requests, and ensuring problems regarding equipment, communications and support systems are resolved.
e. Supervising assigned personnel by making or approving recommendations on issues related to employment, performance appraisal, salaries, transfers, and terminations.
f. Providing orientation and guidance; communicating job expectations, setting productivity standards, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling and providing professional development as required.
g. Developing and maintaining communication forums for assigned staff.
h. Incorporating principles of teamwork with all organizational levels in the resolution, completion and follow-up of various responsibilities.
i. Coordinating and tracking work flow, schedules, projects and committee decisions. Maintaining required records and files; compiling required statistics.

3. Manages provision of clinical services delivery by:
a. Overseeing proper patient and physician flow and implementing improvements as necessary.
b. Ensuring and continuously evaluating customer satisfaction; resolving patient issues and implementing appropriate operational changes that promote consumer/patient satisfaction and effectively impacts clinical work flow.
c. Evaluating workload projections and modifying work schedules and staffing levels to provide optimal patient care and operational efficiency.
d. Ensuring compliance with applicable local, state, national regulatory bodies, including but not limited to Joint Commission for the accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO), Ohio Department of Health, Clinical Laboratory Inspection Agency (CLIA), ANA code of ethics, NIH, NRC, Radiation Safety agencies, and hospital and departmental standards and requirements.
e. Working in collaboration with leadership to implement processes for continuous quality improvement projects for both patient outcomes and operational processes, including coordinating with other sites as needed for best practices.

4. In conjunction with department leadership, ensures effective financial management of assigned areas by:
a. Creating reports, analyzing data and forwarding information to department leadership on issues related to staff productivity, access issues, etc. Making appropriate recommendations.
b. Preparing, managing and reporting on capital and operating budget status, participating in budget reviews as required.
c. In collaboration with the Finance Director, developing and implementing appropriate processes and controls to assure efficient and effective billing for professional and technical services.
d. Monitoring performance against the budget, particularly as it relates to patient encounters and other metrics controlled by clinical staff.

5. Maintains current knowledge of the health care market as related to areas of responsibility, recommending changes based on trends in health care that have a positive impact on clinical operations and clinical support staff.

6. Enhances professional growth and development in the area of employee wellness by keeping current with related legislative developments, trends and practices; participates in continuing education courses, professional organizations, seminars and workshops; reading current literature and maintaining professional contacts within the community. Monitors and assesses appropriateness of emerging communications trends and strategies, adopting techniques as deemed appropriate.

 

 

Qualifications:


Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field or business (i.e. Nursing, Nutrition, Social Work, or other Health Profession, Business Administration).
In lieu of degree, any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below.
Four years combined progressively responsible clinical and management experience in a healthcare setting including planning, analysis, and budget management; as well as program planning and development.
Excellent interpersonal skills required along with experience in working with multi-disciplinary groups.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated evidence of continuing professional self-development.
Excellent critical thinking and analytical aptitude.
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:
Master’s Degree in Business, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and/or Health Care Administration.
Lean/Six Sigma Certification.

Physical Requirements:
May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.
May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required.
May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion.
Ability to use computer.
Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.
