Mechanical Fuel Analysis Engineer. III Princ. Engineer DES02146 AREVA is seeking a Fuel Analysis Engineer III - Princ. Engineer (Mechanical), Analysis & Testing Team in Richland, WA. This highly motivated individual is needed to perform various mechanical analysis tasks in support the AREVA Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) fuel designs and related components. This position plays a key role in ensuring high quality products are delivered to customers on-time. Responsibilities may include: Perform mechanical and structural analysis of BWR fuel assemblies and components, using engineering theory and analytical tools (e.g., finite element analysis) to evaluate the strength, distortion (creep, bow, growth), and corrosion with respect in-reactor (normal operation and accident) and shipping, and handling loading. Perform and document calculations to support reload licensing and fuel development activities. Establish mechanical test requirements and evaluate test data. Develop and benchmark fuel assembly models with test data and perform normal operating and seismic (dynamic) analyses. Develop methods and computer codes necessary to support the development and validation the fuel mechanical performance. Perform assembly/reactor interface calculations and assembly/component interface calculations (e.g., rod bow, fuel assembly growth, channel bow analyses). Provide mechanical support for structural design and manufacturing issues. Support fuel Post-Irradiation Examinations (PIE) and post-PIE data analyses. Serve as the Design Basis Owner (DBO) for certain assigned components/mechanical analyses areas, develop and maintain mechanical design basis for assigned areas. Serve as the mechanical analysis lead for the implementation of design changes when requested. Interface with Fuel Product/Project Management, Fuel Design Owners, and individuals from the other fuel engineering departments (Thermal-Hydraulics, Materials & Thermal-Mechanics, and Neutronics) and regions (France, Germany). Requirements: Engineer III: BSME plus 3-5 years of Engineering experience. An MSME degree a plus (can be substituted for 1-2 years of experience). Engineer IV: BSME plus 5-7 years of Engineering experience. An MSME degree a plus (can be substituted for 1-2 years of experience). Princ. Engineer: BSME plus 7-10 years of Engineering experience. An MSME degree a plus (can be substituted for 1-2 years of experience). Requires knowledge of mechanical design and analysis principals and application of those principles in design and analysis. Strong background in mechanics of materials, solid mechanics, vibration, dynamics systems and finite element analysis. Must possess good written/verbal communication skills and personal interactive skills. Ability to work in a fast paced and demanding design and manufacturing environment. A pro-active approach to problem identification and resolution. Aptitude for taking on new challenges and developing in new technical areas. Under minimum immediate supervision, perform engineering tasks having varied levels of complexity. Good organizational, time management and project management skills. Knowledge of computer software programs ANSYS, MathCad, Excel, Word Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team environment, and achieve desired results through Project Technical Leader assignments.
