Inpatient Phlebotomy Technician– Bonus Eligible

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

The In-patient phlebotomy team focuses on care in In-patient, Emergency Room and Patient Service Center setting.  In this supportive environment you will work with a team of experience phlebotomists and supervisors to provide age appropriate care of blood collection

RESPONSIBILITIES.

Baystate Health In-patient phlebotomists perform an important role in providing care to our patients.  Our phlebotomists have knowledge of phlebotomy procedures and techniques to perform venipuncture and capillary punctures in an In-patient setting.  They learn to assess vein size, location and position of veins for vascular access from diverse patient types.  Our phlebotomists have knowledge of basic lab tests and specimen requirements, as well as development of skills related to specimen receiving, processing and handling responsibilities.

SCHEDULE.  Various hours available (36, 27, 18 hours)

                      Various Shifts available (8a-5:30p; 5p – 2:30a; Midnight – 9:30a)

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• 6 months of relevant experience required
• High School diploma or GED
• Completion of formal phlebotomy or another medical program such as Medical Assistant, CLA, Patient Care Associate, etc.
• Great interpersonal skills, compassionate care giver and able to work in a fast-paced environment a MUST
