What are we looking for?

EBSCO information Services is seeking an Agile Development Director. In this position you will be responsible for guiding, coaching, and mentoring managers, architects and engineering teams in the design, development, delivery, and operation of premium online Discovery and Research products. This person will lead engineering and architecture teams who create information products and services that inform the world, advancing research in traditional and emerging fields and transforming learning and education.

 

What will I do as the Agile Director of Development at EIS?

· Act as technical leader of the Data Platform Domain/ART.

· Mentor and Coach engineering teams, system architects and offshore contractor teams, focusing on team development, growth, efficiency, process, technical excellence, organization, budget, and meeting business objectives.

· Provide Technical leadership on the domain/ART program team, working with business stakeholders to provide solutions from inception to operation.

· Lead accountability, autonomy, and empowerment within the teams.

· Attract, recruit, retain, and develop top management, architectural and engineering talent.

· Continually raise the bar on functionality, flow, consistency, usability, and simplicity.

· Stay abreast of industry/technology trends relevant to the Software Engineering discipline.

 

What Skills do I need to be successful as The Agile Development Director?

· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.

· 15+ years’ experience in software development.

· 10+ years’ experience as a software engineering/development manager or leader.

· 5+ years’ experience in Agile/Scrum/Kanban/SAFe.

· 3+ years’ experience managing and supporting production systems.

 

What preferred skills would be helpful as The Agile Development Director?

· Strong knowledge of Agile and Scrum with proven experience in servant leadership, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continuous improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.

· Ability to learn a complex domain and the skills to present, discuss, and reason about the domain and its components with leadership, program team, engineers, architects, and business stakeholders.
