The Department of PHARMACY has an outstanding opportunity for a part time, 50%FTE Pharmacy Drug Interaction Database Manager. This position oversees the enhancement and refinement of the drug-drug interaction database for Pharmacies at Harborview Medical Center, Northwest Hospital and Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC), Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and UW Neighborhood Clinics. The individual reports directly to the Chief Pharmacy Officer/Associate Dean, School of Pharmacy and works closely with the Department Chair.

Duties:
•Maintain the customized Cerner drug-drug interaction database until the conversion to EPIC occurs.
•Assist the Future State Epic Medication Warning Configuration Committee with decisions on the initial settings for CDS (Clinical Decision support) alerting upon conversion to EPIC.
•Evaluate and test the EPIC drug-drug interaction database for potential customization prior to go-live. If customization is possible, work with the Drug Interaction Committee to identify potential interacting drug pairs and recommend changes in their alert status based on evidence-based review of the potential interactions and the risk to patients that the interactions present.
•Identify and evaluate other options that are or may become available as alternative databases for drug related CDS.
•Provide education about drug-drug interactions and the application of informatics to improve patient safety by appropriately alerting providers to potentially harmful drug related events.
•Work closely with department directors and managers to coordinate interdepartmental activities and drug interaction data systems.
•Advise the Chief Pharmacy Officer and the departmental directors in short- and long-term goals and objectives as related to drug interaction database.
•Collaborate with the Director of Operations for each site to achieve operational efficiencies, including the allocation of resources.
•Maintain effective communication with the UW Medicine Pharmacy administrative team and other departments.
•Contribute to positive working relationships, collaborative teamwork, and service excellence with all disciplines and departments.
•Implement and employ relevant performance and quality metrics for procurement cycle activities with a focus on process improvement, service enhancement, and improved automation.
•Demonstrate creativity, imagination, initiative, and good judgment in developing, organizing and implementing ideas and programs.

Requirements
•Graduate degree in Pharmacy, related healthcare field and/or Information Sciences. •Previous experience in Pharmacy practice/related field, 5+ years experience
•Expertise in drug interaction management, development of treatment algorithms, 10+ years experience
•Experience evaluating and implementing healthcare related informatics systems, 10+ years experience
•Experience with Cerner, Epic or other EMR, 5+ years experience
•Understanding of medical terminology and related workflows. Broad knowledge of clinical operations and associate technologies
•Awareness of current IT security standards, applicable privacy laws, Joint Commission accreditation standards
•Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information
•Strong and sound competency in mapping real-life pharmacy practices to informatics applications
•Strong knowledge of systems analysis, workflow planning, gathering business requirements and transforming them into functional specifications.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.

Desired:

PharmD and time in an ASHP-accredited Residency are desirable.
