RN / Vascular Coordinator - Registered Nurse

 


 

SUMMARY

 

The RN / Vascular Coordinator will be responsible for triaging incoming vascular phone calls, coordinating vascular surgeries and assisting vascular providers as needed. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

      1. Triage vascular phone calls and make recommendations of care and document
      2. Address patients / referring physician offices in a professional and friendly manner, using superior customer service techniques.
      3. Provide, assist or specialize with appointment scheduling functions.
      4. Schedule vascular surgeries and procedures per doctors instructions
      5. Enter orders for vascular surgery / procedure and testing per doctors instructions
      6. Doctor “go to person" for in-basket messages, calendar, call schedules
      7. Ensures labs and studies are available for appointments and surgeries
      8. Provide procedure preparation information to the patient
      9. Assist with direct patient care procedures and related tasks: obtaining patient history, room patients, take vital signs and assist with medical examinations when needed

10.  Call in prescriptions per physician instructions
11.  Perform other projects / tasks as requested

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • RN degree and current state license; BSN or MSN degree preferred
  • Minimum of two years of experience as RN
  • Previous experience in a medical setting preferred
  • Basic knowledge of telephone communication skills
  • High level organizational skills which must include great follow up and be self motivated
  • Work compatibly with patients, physicians and other staff members
  • Experience with general office equipment, i.e. faxes, copy machines, multi-line telephone system
  • Familiarity with MS Windows Office Suite desired
  • EPIC software desired
  • CPR certified

PHYSICAL / MENTAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT

The nature of the job requires sitting for periods of time. While performing the essential functions of the job one may frequently bend/stoop, and occasionally squat, reach above shoulder, crouch, push/pull. Some lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs. is required. The use of hands for repetitive simple grasping, firm grasping is required.  The job requires being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity.  While performing the job, one will encounter frequent close paperwork, and occasional use of computer monitor, visual monotony.  Must utilize hearing for continuous conversations, equipment monitoring, telephone use, background noise and occasional transcription. Frequent stress may occur.  The job requires continuous independent decision-making.
