Graduate Nurse- Mother Baby Unit 5-1

All qualified graduate nurses are eligible for up to $8000 recruitment bonus!

  • The Mother Baby Unit is a 20 bed, all private post- partum unit offering 24 hour rooming in and individualized teaching.
  • The unit has an all registered nurse staff with all nurses specially trained to provide lactation support.
  • Additional support by lactation specialists is available seven days a week.
  • In addition to working on your home unit in the maternal child care division, the goal is that you will be cross trained to one of the other maternal child units (NICU and/or Labor and Delivery).

What you will do:

  • Provide family centered therapeutic nursing interventions, hands on skills, family/caregiver education, goal setting, critical thinking and care planning.
  • Attend and support care of newborns during high risk deliveries.
  • Collaborative team approach: Our interdisciplinary team includes, OB providers, certified nurse midwives, registered nurses, lactation consultants, social workers, and spiritual care.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Service standards of care and practice.
  • Utilizing the Nursing Process, plans, directs and supervises the care of patients in addition to being involved in the provision of direct care of patients and families.

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure in the State of New York.
  • Maintains current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Work Environment and Hazards:

  • Clinical setting. Exposure Class I

Physical Demands:

  • Medium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting maximum of 50 pounds. Will require ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach.

  • All services, medical staff, patients, visitors, and various regulatory and professional agencies.

Supervised By:

  • Team Leader, Clinical Coordinator, Unit Manager, and Clinical Services/Nursing Administration.
