The person who joins our team in this position will play an integral role in driving business growth in a new and growing area. Your mission will be to ensure that Novelist becomes a leader in professional development training.

 

This is a full-time position. While NoveList’s headquarters are in Durham, NC, this person may work remotely from anywhere. If you want to help people build their workplace skills, love creating and presenting course material, and have a background in marketing, communication, and/or readers’ advisory, we want you to apply.

 

What you’ll do

  • Develop course curriculum for our online professional development platform, Learn with NoveList (www.learnwithnovelist.com). Topics may include readers’ advisory, library marketing, communication, and other professional skills.  

  • Teach courses, either remotely or in person.  

  • Recruit instructors to add expertise and depth to the course catalog. 

  • Produce course materials, including PowerPoint slides, videos, handouts, post-session emails, and interactive activities. 

  • Provide technical support during live course sessions, including hosting training on Zoom, monitoring chat, and handling technical issues. 

  • Provide administrative support for the learning management platform including onboarding learners, monitoring learner progress, updating and maintaining customer-facing platform pages, running analytical reports for marketing and strategic purposes, and assessing training effectiveness to identify areas of improvement. 

  • Work closely with your Engagement and Marketing team members to identify opportunities to increase sales of courses.   

  • Collaborate across teams to ensure alignment with other departments including Technical Support, Product Management, Book Discovery, Technology, and EBSCO corporate. 

  • Demonstrate how your work helps our business achieve its objectives and key results.

Knowledge and expertise that matter for this role

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar education in marketing, communications, education, information science, library science, or related field 

  • 2+ years experience creating presentations and successfully delivering presentations in front of an audience about readers’ advisory, marketing, or other subjects of interest to people who work with readers 

  • 2+ years experience creating engaging course material including PowerPoints, activities, and handouts 

  • Experience writing engaging, learner-focused copy 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, SharePoint)

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills 

  • Exceptional presentation ability 

  • Experience managing an online training platform, especially Talent LMS. 

  • Experience editing video 

  • Experience with a library, publisher, or reader-focused organization as an employee or volunteer 

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, able to keep multiple projects with varying timelines on schedule 

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and proactively to do what needs to be done. 

  • Experience with NoveList or EBSCO products and services 

  • Team player with a positive attitude, eager to learn, and adaptive to the needs and demands of the business. 

  • The ability to look beyond what has always been done to seek alternatives.

Target Annual Salary Range: $52,880 - 75,540. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s work location.
