Responsibilities

  • Analyze and verify images and data of residential/agricultural properties to ensure that property records reflect current and accurate property characteristics.

Qualifications

  • Strong desire to learn and grow in the real estate appraisal field.
  • High School graduate or equivalent work experience.
  • One-year residential data collection and property measurement experience preferred, but not required.
  • Must be able to travel to properties in assigned project area for the majority of the workday and provide reliable transportation and carry full insurance on the vehicle driven to perform job.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.
  • Good organizational skills including attention to detail with the ability to capture and record accurate and comprehensive properties details.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:                                                                                            

 

General Position Informaiton:

This is a full-time position, 35 hours per week. The salary range is $34,481.20 to a top end of $49,319.00.  (Hourly rate is $18.94 – $27.09 per hr.)  Additional income is earned by processing court orders and transcripts.  Starting salary is dependent upon experience.  A degree or certificate in Court Reporting from a court reporting program of higher education; computer and stenographic skills required. Applicant must meet the requirements listed in Rule 4004 – Qualifications of Court Reporters, PA Rules of Court.  There is a comprehensive benefit package included.  An RPR status is preferred, but not required.  Mercer County pays for required continuing education as well as association memberships. A Steno writer, laptop, and Case CATalyst software are also provided by Mercer County.     

 

Overall Objectives

To stenographically record verbatim all court proceedings and transcribe a variety of hearings, as required by law; to prepare and process court orders, transcripts, and other related court proceedings with a high degree of speed and accuracy.  The position works with confidential and sensitive information, requiring discretion and strict confidentiality.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Stenographically reports verbatim the testimony in all court proceedings of the Court of Common Pleas, including trials, hearings, and conferences; interrupts when necessary to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the record; reads back portions of proceedings upon request.
  • Transcribes, certifies, and files a variety of proceedings as required by law or statute with the appropriate filing offices.
  • Prepares court orders, sentences, Findings of Fact, and other courtroom documents as required by the Common Pleas judges.
  • Operates stenographic shorthand machine, computer, and various other standard office equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those the employee

encounters while performing the essential functions of the position. A Court Reporter works indoors on a regular basis, in an office with minimal environmental factors, with adequate workspace, in adequate temperatures, ventilation, and lighting; and normal exposure to noise, disruptions, and stress; and normal indoor exposure to dust/dirt.

 

 

PHYSICAL/ MENTAL CONDITIONS

        • Must possess ability to record, convey, assemble, and present information; explain procedures; and follow instructions.

2.    Must be able to sit for long periods throughout the workday with intermittent periods of standing, walking, bending, twisting, and reaching necessary to carry out job duties.

Position Duties:

 

  • Assist the administrative staff in any requested assignment and assist the Records Coordinator in all required departmental duties.
  • Must read, understand and implement court orders by all Common Pleas and Magisterial Judges
  • Must regularly calculate credit time
  • Provide information regarding the criminal justice system to Records staff, Booking Officers and other agencies.
  • Aid in training booking officers on correct and legal booking and release of an inmate
  • Work with outside agencies concerning inmate reasons for incarceration
  • Understand and maintain accurate and updated information on the OMS system
  • Understand how to process all new commitments according to procedures and law
  • Verify and process all inmate releases

Overall Descriptions of the Position

 

Assist the GIS staff and other governmental departments at Mercer County with GIS and related technology. some specific tasks may include the following:

  • Design, configure, and populate geospatial datasets
  • Perform QA / QC of county geospatial datasets
  • Create custom paper maps for a variety of purposes
  • Assist in configuring and maintaining web applications
  • Compile and mosaic historical aerial imagery

 

 

Position Requirements:

 

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Studies & Sustainability, Urban & Regional Planning, or a related field
  • Experience working with ESRI or open source GIS software suites, preferably ArcGIS Pro (vers 3.0+), ArcMap (vers 10.7+), & QGIS
  • Experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office, Adobe products, ArcGIS online and its suite of tools
  • Basic understanding of color theory, cartography, typography, graphic design for GIS purposes
  • Proficiency with computers, various software, printers, plotters, GPS units
  • Experience writing code using a variety of computer languages (C++, Python, SQL, Arcade, Visual Basic, javascipt, HTML)
  • Assist in field data collection
  • Ability to make oral and written presentations

  • Provide technical assistance to various county employees/departments with the creation & maintenance of data, maps, web mapping applications, etc., for a variety of circumstances that benefit the county, our municipalities, and our citizens.
