Job Description
Old Dominion University’s Department of Engineering Technology invites applications for a pool of persons for possible part-time adjunct teaching positions. This pool will be accessed ONLY when an opening arises. Your credentials will remain active as long as the pool position is available but no more than one year. Academic calendars are provided online and dates of employment would start May 9 for summer semester, August 26 for fall semester, or January 6 for spring semester. The review of applications is ongoing.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses in the areas of either:
  1. Civil engineering technology (surveying, CAD, BIM, sustainability, soils and foundations, water resources engineering, and construction management); or
  2. Electrical engineering technology (analog and digital electronics, electrical circuits, microprocessor-based design, programmable logic controllers and instrumentation, electrical machines and power systems); or
  3. Mechanical engineering technology (computer aided drafting and solid modeling, material science and manufacturing processes, thermal-fluid-energy sciences, and engineering mechanics, specifically statics and dynamics).

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
For all candidates, professional experience, experience in teaching or training in a Higher Education setting are required.
Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
A B.S. degree, and at least 18 graduate credits in:
  1. Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management for civil engineering technology program;
  2. Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology for electrical engineering technology program;
  3. Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology for mechanical engineering technology program or closely related field is required by the expected date of hire.
Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification
Preferred Qualifications
A Master of Science or Ph.D. in:
  1. Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management for civil engineering technology program;
  2. Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology for electrical engineering technology program;
  3. Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology for mechanical engineering technology program or closely related field is required by the expected date of hire.
