Advancement Specialist (Full-time)

Non-Exempt
Salary Range:   $40,000 – $45,000

PBS Hawai’i, a multimedia educational nonprofit, is seeking a full-time Advancement Specialist to join our mission-driven fundraising team. This important professional coordinates PBS Hawai’i Keiki Club activities and oversees volunteer recruitment and training.

We are looking for someone with a history of working with children ages 0-8 and who has had experience coordinating events and family activities.

Responsibilities include error-free and efficient data entry; overseeing timely and accurate pledge gift fulfillment; ensuring thank you letters and notes to donors are prompt and personalized; and interacting with past, present and prospective contributors by phone, email and face-to-face.

Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends on a flex schedule. College degree or equivalent work experience. Proficiency with Microsoft applications is required.  A valid driver’s license and clean abstract are a must.

Digital Broadcast Engineer (Full-time)

Salary Range:   $65,000 – $75,000

Operates and maintains the station’s technical equipment including television transmitter systems, IT infrastructure, servers, workstations, printers, and television production equipment.  Works in a Remote Master Control environment which includes verifying playlists and ingesting interstitials & program media.  Ensures that studio cameras and recording/playback devices are properly set up and operational.  Must be a dependable, detail-oriented team player.  Knowledge of RF systems, ATSC digital broadcast streams, PC/Mac OS required.  Valid driver’s license is required.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Engineering Student (Part-Time)

PBS Hawaiʻi is looking for a motivated college student interested in the engineering workings of a broadcast television station and building their resume with great skills.  This position will allow you to learn about audio/video distribution, a/v routing, signal monitoring, networking infrastructure, engineering support for production, microwave transmission, and television transmitters.   Advanced skills and knowledge not required other than what you’ve already learned in college.  Up to 19 hours per week.   Reports directly to the Chief Engineer.

Student Production Technician (Part-Time)

Are you a college student who is interested in learning television production?  We have a part-time position for a motivated and committed individual.  You will have the opportunity to learn how to operate a video camera, do audio for the studio and field, video switching, lighting, and more.  Hours vary weekly between 4 – 19 hours, depending on our production schedule.  Availability for a weekly Thursday evening LIVE production (4:30p -9:30p) is a must.  All day availability (M, W, F or Tu, Th from 8 am- 5 pm) is a plus, but not required.  Availability on weekends, and evenings are also a plus. No experience is necessary.  We are looking for currently enrolled students who have a commitment to learning and a professional work attitude. Minimum wage to start, and at least 18 months of school remaining before graduation.  This position reports directly to the Production Manager but will work under the leadership of any senior staff member assigned to the production or project.
