Job Summary
The College of Law is seeking to fill a one-year Visiting Legal Writing position for the 2024-2025 academic year. The position will begin August 1, 2024 and continue through May 31, 2025. The Visiting Legal Writing Professor will teach 2 legal writing courses in fall and 2 legal writing courses in spring.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Candidates must have a J.D. or equivalent degree from an ABA accredited law school; and
  • At least two years of practical experience. The practical experience may include work in a law office, courthouse, or other experience of comparable nature demonstrating acumen regarding the law and effective legal communication.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Practice and experience demonstrating legal writing and research expertise;
  • A strong academic record;
  • Teaching experience;
  • Skill in using online teaching and learning platforms including for remote instruction;
  • Potential for excellence in teaching legal writing;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • A long-term commitment to teaching legal writing; and
  • Ability to contribute through teaching and service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.
