Responsibilities

Essential Functions:
  • Completes the assessment/admission process for consumers including: Medical Checklist/Physical Health/Nutritional screening, Consumer/Family Education Screening, Medical List/MAR, height/weight/AIMS and vital signs as applicable
  • Identifies and evaluates alternative and implements effective solutions.
  • Communicates effectively with the physician rgarding the consumer's physical and mental condition as needed.
  • Interfaces with the multi-disciplinary team and actively and cooperatively participates in development of the interdisciplinary treatment plan as needed. Finish
  • Administers medications, observing the Six Rights of medication administration.
  • Provides medication education for the consumer and family, including uses and potential side effects. Monitors consumers for potential side effects of medication and reports findings to the physician.
  • Monitors and requests laboratory results and reports all abnormal findings to the physician
  • Provides emergency care as needed (CPR, MindSet, PRN Medications) per AltaPointe Policy and Procedures as needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation.
  • Reviews consumer records to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborates with Leadership, PI, Assistant Coordinators and Coordinators regarding nursing issues and services
  • Orders necessary supplies and ensures safety and operation of medical and office equipment
  • Effectively demonstrates the application of adult and child/adolescent specific competencies
  • Adheres to professional code of ethics.
  • Processes time cards and educates staff on utilization of the system.
  • Decides staffing request like personal time off, leave and other special requests.
  • Orients staff to the facility upon hire and during times of policy/practice change
  • Ensures staff are competent to perform the job.
  • Documents staff interactions and performance periodically
  • Conducts disciplinary meetings as needed.
  • Completes performance appraisals for staff and meets with staff to review outcomes
  • Addresses staff regarding consumers, facility and programmatic needs
  • Applies AltaPointe policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Reviews and completes incident reports for facility
  • Documents in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy
  • Documents in a clear, concise, and accurate manner
  • Documents legibly.
  • Seeks clinical supervision and consultation needs
  • Accepts and employs suggestions for improvement

Physical Requirements:
  • There is frequent standing, sitting, and walking which are in burst of 5 to 10 minutes. However, there are times when this can be extended to pacing with the consumer (time could be undetermined), and at times sitting and standing can be extended with the employee having the ablity to change positions as permitted by the observance and behavior of the consumer at that time.
  • Occasionallly, be able to kneel and reach to same side toward floor.
  • Lift up to 10 pounds from the floor to various levels, including from the floor to overhead occasionally during shift.
  • Strong grasp is needed to use keys to open doors throughout the facility and to maintain constant contact with a consumer during a restraint procedure or with other hold techniques.
  • Pushing/pulling force up to 25 pounds occasionally during shift.
  • There are times that require the employee to be able to ambulate as quickly as possible to assist coworkers with a consumer in a restraint procedure.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Current RN license to practice in the State of Alabama
  • Three to 5 years' behavioral healthcare experience with at least 2 years being in a management position
  • Valid Driver's License with a safe driving history and verifiable liability insurance
  • Must be at least 23 years of age or older
