Pharmacy Technician

Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent

Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State

Board of Pharmacy

At least 2 years experience, preferably in a hospital setting

IV Certified preferred

Must have skills in basic pharmaceutical calculations, computer functions, reasoning, communication, teamwork, customer/patient focus, accountability, and planning & organizing.

Description:

Driscoll Children's Hospital is a 150-bed tertiary care, regional referral center offering complex and comprehensive medical and surgical care for children. The hospital's medical staff is comprised of pediatric specialists in more than 32 medical and 13 surgical specialties.

The pharmacy technician assists the pharmacist in the preparation, filling, and delivery of medications.

Duties include but are not limited to: cart fill, unit dose packaging, processing pharmacy requisitions and bulk charges, answering phones to aid other staff and ensure quality patient care, use of automated dispensing machines, sterile intravenous compounding, completing monthly inspections of assigned nursing units and clinics, assisting with inventory monitoring, participation in quality improvement, and participation in department activities and goals.

This job has medium physical demands (requires lifting 50 lbs with frequent carrying of up to 25 lbs).
