Job Summary:

Hospital Medicine is growing rapidly, from subspecializing within hospital medicine, leading the way in POCUS, the teaching of residents and students, to being at the forefront of the pandemic response. Our division of hospital medicine is excited to offer fellowship with multiple points of focus. We serve two hospitals, one large university hospital in downtown Syracuse and our sister hospital at the community campus just on the periphery of the city. We offer one of the most diverse programs with complete experience with many possibilities to focus on subspecialties, leadership, POCUS, clinical research, as well as the core of hospital medicine.
Responsibilities include:

  • Rounding with a resident lead team on inpatient rounds at our downtown campus.
  • Rounding with APP driven teams on inpatient rounds at our community campus.
  • Working with the resident teams and APP teams at night covering as nocturnist.
  • Working with ICU fellow and attending driven rounds at both campuses in the medical ICU.
  • Working closely with leadership in a chosen realm: Operations, Quality, Patient Experience, Education, or Clinical Research.
  • Work to become POCUS certified.
  • Chose a subspecialty track, we offer significant time for electives in critical care, gastroenterology, infectious disease, clinical research.

Fellows will become eligible to take the ABIM exam in hospital medicine to be certified in Internal Medicine with a Focused Practice in Hospital Medicine.

Minimum Qualifications:

Strong work ethic and self-driven citizenship.
Outstanding verbal and written communication.
Desire to learn and to teach.
Board-certified or eligible in internal medicine, family practice, neurology, or hospital medicine.
