Mechanical Engineer (Richland WA). Calculate the fuel rod design margin for a given neutronic core design using in-house analysis fuel rod thermal-mechanical analysis codes. Document the analyses and prepare a licensing report for the utility customer for each reactor cycle. Maintain codes and create automation scripts. Perform data reduction of fuel performance data taken during post-irradiation examinations as well as as-built data coming from manufacturing. Prepare benchmarking studies with fuel performance codes to compare predictions to post-irradiation data for validation of codes. Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Radiation Science or similar plus knowledge of fuel rod design and performance, development of thermal-mechanical fuel rod performance codes, Monte Carlo/Wilks statistical methods and neutronic core design output. Proficiency in programming with FORTRAN, C, AWK, VBA, Perl, RODEX4 and Python in Unix and Linux environments as well as document preparation with LaTeX and Microsoft Office.
