Job Description Summary
Perform manual and some semi-skilled work in the care and maintenance of assigned City equipment, facilities, and grounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description
•Clean and make minor repairs to walls, windows, doors, and floors. Straighten up work areas and move furniture, materials, and supplies.

•Pick up trash, run sweeper, clean shelters, clean restrooms, clean elevators, and clean stairs.

•Purchase, pick up, and deliver supplies, parts, and materials.

•Operate a variety of standard power tools and equipment in grounds and building maintenance and repair activities on a regular basis.

•Perform preventative maintenance and make minor repairs to appliances, vehicles, and electrical fixtures; assist in the maintenance, repair, and/or replacement of plumbing, heating, ventilation, and electrical fixtures and systems.

•Perform general maintenance on facilities and grounds, such as painting, concrete repair, sign maintenance, mowing, and snow/ice removal.

•Positions assigned to Parking Utility, must perform basic troubleshooting and necessary emergency actions related to the Parking Utilities’ Parking Access and Revenue Control System (PARCS) equipment and software.

Fiscal Responsibility
Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered
•High school diploma or equivalent required.

•Minimum of two years of experience in general building and grounds maintenance and repair work.

•Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

•Positions assigned to the airport must successfully complete an annual TSA background check.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position
•Some knowledge of semi-skilled building and grounds maintenance and repair practices and procedures.

•Some knowledge of standard hand and power tools and equipment used in facilities and grounds maintenance activities.

•Some knowledge of safety standards and precautions pertaining to the use of tools, chemicals, and heavy physical labor.

•Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.

•Ability to operate motor vehicles and use radios and other related equipment.

•Ability to deal courteously and authoritatively with the public.

•Ability to operate mechanical equipment for snow removal.

•Ability to operate trucks equipped with trash compactor if assigned to Parks Management Center.
Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job
•May be required to work in confined spaces, hazardous traffic conditions, or high/dangerous places requiring ladders.

•May be exposed to wet/humid conditions, inclement outdoor weather, vibration, airborne particles/fumes, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, loud noise levels, potentially hazardous bodily fluids, or potentially hazardous or cancer-causing agents/chemicals.

•Regularly required to talk and listen.

•Must be able to feel attributes of objects, grasp, push, stand, walk, drive, reach with hands/arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb/balance.

•Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand, and/or finger movement to type and work on computer.

•Must have clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision, precise hand-eye coordination, and ability to identify and distinguish colors.

•May be required to lift 100 or more pounds.

•Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
