Job Summary: NP will respond to pagers from the ER when MD and/or resident are not available and take the sign out for ER consults. NP will evaluate the patient, history of present illness, past psychiatric history, outpatient treatment (if any), current and past medications (if any), substance use, emphasize the current presentation (what prompted visit to ER), perform a thorough suicide risk assessment, dangerousness risk assessment, and come up with a disposition of the patient (admit or discharge) based on clinical presentation to the ER. Minimum Qualifications:

NYS licensed/registered Psychiatric NP required (NYS NP specialty area of certification must be consistent with practice). Must have Master’s Degree, NPI number, DEA certification, medical malpractice insurance and be Medicare enrolled with Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN). Eligibility criteria for NP requires National Certification through ANCC prior to hire. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

One year of experience preferred. Emergency psychiatric services experience preferred.

Monday - Friday days
