Crouse Hospital's Emergency Department Nursing Academy offers a foundation for excellence and learning. This professional development initiative provides competitive pay with an in-depth orientation to the challenges and rewards of nursing practice in the Emergency Department. Progression through the programfor Graduate Nurses will take twelve months. Those accepted must agree to a two year commitment in the ED after completion of the program. The Academy experienceincludes:
o         Emergency Department shadowing experience with an ED RN
o         foundational Med Surg orientation to provide baseline nursing skills
o         Online learning modules developed by the Emergency Nurses Association
o         Wide variety of learning experiences to compliment ENA modules
o         Six month ED Orientation with skilled ED preceptors and educators
o         Ongoing feedback and evaluation 


The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the planning, implementing and evaluation of care for a given patient population with the established standards and practices of Crouse Hospital.  This process is enacted through direct clinical practice, management of patient care and general professional duties.

Required:Graduate of an accredited Nursing Degree program. Currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire or within 2 weeks after hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification must be obtained within one (1) year of the hire date.  Must be able to complete Emergency Department Nursing Residency Syllabus in the timeframes provided on hire

If applying as a Graduate Nurse – must provide letter of recommendation from senior level clinical instructor; if applying as Registered Nurse – recommended that you provide letter of recommendation from current Nurse Manager.

IF HIRED OR LICENSED AFTER 1/1/2017: MUST complete BSN (Bachelors in Nursing within 8 years of hire date into the Registered Nurse position)  
 

Work Type: Full-Time(36 hrs/wk)/(3) 12-hour shifts
Work Hours: 7:00am-7:00pm, 11:00am-11:00pm 7:00pm-7:00am
