ATSS is looking for a QA Senior Inspector for a client in Pacagoula, MS 
                                                                          

QA SR INSPECTOR
 
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Performs in-process and final inspections to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications and all other applicable requirements. Works under the general supervision of a quality control manager. Ability to carry out routine inspections (in process and final) of machinery, steel fabrication, piping, welding, electrical, instruments, or structures.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:  The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.
Reports to the Divisional QA/QC Manager.

 

Inspects and/ or tests parts of products being fabricated, assembled, welded or otherwise manufactured to assure compliance with quality standards. Documents inspections and tests.

 

May supervise subordinate personnel and manage time when assigned by QA/QC Manager.

 

May manage NDE subcontractors time and cost when assigned by QA/QC Manager.

 

Accepts or rejects material or assemblies not conforming to design specifications or approved deviations.

 

Inspects purchased parts and specialty items from supplier and generates inspection records. Consults with quality

manager for alternate methods and/or brings to attention of production supervision in cases of product problem areas or

faulty workmanship. Maintains records and files pertaining to quality control/inspection of products.

 

Monitors traceability of all incoming steel together with regular material identification.

 

Ensure identification and traceability of all finished goods in the yard. Carry out regular welding audits, procedure qualifications, and welder’s performance qualification when assigned by QA Manager.

 

Liaise with Class societies and customers on routine inspections.

 

Execute in process audits in line with the QMS. Ensure the implementation and compliance of the QMS.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Internationally recognized certifications in relevant field: AWS CWI, AWS SCWI, NACE CIP, ASNT NDT Level III, etc. (or equivalent experience approved by the VP QA/QC). Excellent knowledge of detail and assembly drawings used in manufacturing processes. Excellent knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations applicable to focus of manufacturing area assigned. Ability to use tools, gauges, measuring devices, and test equipment necessary for the inspection process. Ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to interface well with yard supervisors, managers, and customer quality assurance personnel. Fully conversant with Ship Terminology/Classification Rules/ASME/AWS codes and regulations. Hands on experience in inspection of marine engine components, deck machinery (winches, cranes), pumps, valves, electrical, instrumentation, structural steel fabrication. Thorough knowledge about welding processes like SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and SAW. Thorough knowledge of selection and application of welding procedures. Excellent communication skills, good command over written and spoken English, computer literate, good report writing skills. Exposure to ISO Quality Management systems and internal audits. Exposure to Safety and Environmental Management Systems. Must have majority of own inspection tools.
DESIRABLE EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
Completion of a standard high school education supplemented or including course work in drafting, applied mathematics, industrial technology, Mechanical/Production Engineering, and considerable to extensive experience in manufacturing processes; or any equivalent combination of education and training which results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 15 years minimum experience in the capacity of QA/QC inspector, craftsmen, or supervisor in the ship repair/shipyard/drydock industry.
