Our Nutrition Services department has an opportunity for a full-time, day shift FOOD SERVICE WORKER!

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Supervisor. Prepares and serves food items for patient meal service. Ensure food is handled safely and presented attractively. Ensure tray accuracy for patient meal orders. Maintain safety and sanitation standards in work area, actively contribute to team process, and maintain cooperative work environment and work to improve quality food and services provided to patients, staff and visitors. Use proper cleaning and handling techniques with kitchen equipment. Perform heavy cleaning and sanitation duties in the dish room and kitchen.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Wipe down work area with Oasis solutions. Check and prep starter positions for all supplies, condiments, silverwares, hot base, domes, and trays. Check par level stock on the fridge and check expiration dates. 
  • Work in the tray assembly line. In charge of the ticket printer. Put menu on the tray, retrieve hot food from the cooks area. Check and ensure hot food items quality and presentation.
  • Assemble the tray using the proper plating guidelines accurately and attractively. Restock area and refrigerators with supplies for next day operation. Use FIFO method.
  • Check and monitor cold food items temperature, par level stock, and expiration dates. Organize your production work area. Work on the assembly line serving cold food items and place on the appropriate trays, using proper plating guidelines..
  • Able to work simultaneously with multiple orders, managing time to complete tasks thoroughly and accurately.
  • Brew and set up Regular and decaf coffee.
  • Prep Ambassador Cart for loading station. Set up timers, tray location log and hand gel.
  • Load trays to Ambassador Carts. Work closely with the Expeditor to ensure that trays are not missing any items for accuracy and prompt delivery. Call Ambassador to confirm cart is ready. Follow Ambassadors assigned units delivery and time schedule.
  • Transport meal carts to the designated Ambassador unit and retrieve empty Cart.
  • Help deliver Patient meal tray to Clinical unit like ER, PACU, and Surgery Pavilion and others.
  • Work in the dish room and team up with your co-porters to accomplish task and schedule in the dish room. Retrieve assigned soiled Patient’s meal tray from the nursing unit.
  • Breakdown/disassembles Patient trays, stacking and racking dishes to be washed.
  • Unload dishes, pots and pans to the dish machine. Return clean dishes, pots and pans to proper storage area.
  • Collect pots and pans in the Kitchen area. Soak pots and pans in the sink.
  • Monitor and record dinner dish machine temp on the log.
  • Disassemble and clean dish machine interior and exterior including the top hood of the machine. Soak curtains and rods in the sink overnight. Wash down the silverware station, the top and bottom shelf of the wash down table. Leave dish room area properly neat and organize.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • One year experience as a Food Service Worker, or equivalent education/experience
  • Ability to read and correctly interpret patient meal ticket
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours and to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain safety and sanitation standards
  • Actively contribute to continuous quality improvement process to improve quality of services provided to our customers and co-workers
  • Demonstrate team skills; works cooperatively with peers
