The Administrative Legal Assistant II (“ALAII”) provides administrative and legal support to the Deputy General Counsel and the Associate General Counsel ("DGC and AGC”). 

 ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT: Serves as the attorneys’ liaison for internal/external constituents; Alerts attorneys to priority issues and matters of urgency; Creates drafts and edits correspondence, contracts/agreements, pleadings, presentations, and spreadsheets for approval by the attorneys; Responsible for coordinating attorney activities, including calendar management, travel arrangements, and associated logistics. Compiles meeting materials. Handles background investigation requests for current and former students applying for positions with the federal government or other entities. In addition, the ALAII performs various high-level tasks of a substantial and confidential nature. Therefore, discretion and independent judgment must be exercised in establishing and applying techniques, procedures, data management, discovery, and other documentation. Determine the best contact to support an issue raised by telephone or email. If a matter is not in the scope of work done by the DGC or AGC, locate and refer the individual to the proper contact within the University. If an issue is within the purview of the DGC and AGC, gather more information and bring it to the attention of the DGC or AGC for review. 

LEGAL SUPPORT DEPUTY GENERAL COUNSEL: Assists the DGC with matters including but not limited to Litigation, Contracting, Environmental, Labor and Employment, Student Conduct, Institutional Equity, Employee Support Services, Title IX, and Clery Compliance. Completes assigned projects involving ongoing litigation; Organizes and maintains litigation files; Calendars cutoff and other critical dates on litigation calendar; Assists with preparation of discovery responses; Assists the preservation notice process and responding to FERPA records requests. Deals with matters of significance related to Tulane’s compliance with the terms of an executed settlement agreement promptly. Ensures disbursements within the acceptable legal framework to avoid legal complications due to lack of compliance. Works with Human Resources and the Office of Institutional Equity to gather information related to employee complaints. Data is collected to respond to complaints made through the EEOC, OCR, and litigation filed within the court. 

LEGAL SUPPORT ASSOCIATE GENERAL COUNSEL: Assist the AGC with intellectual property matters, innovation/entrepreneurial activities, and online education initiatives. Will assist with matters involving technology and data use, internet law, copyright and computer privacy issues and will assist with a variety of licensing agreements, non-disclosure agreements and other commercial agreements with IP provisions.
