Title IC Migrant Education Program at ESU 9 has an immediate opening for a Data Specialist.


The Specialist's primary responsibility is data collection for students in the Title IC Program in the
Central Nebraska area.

Successful candidates must be self-motivated, have data entry skills and
Microsoft Excel experience. Knowledge of the Migrant Education Program is preferred. Must have
a valid Nebraska driver's license and reliable transportation.

QUALITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

*Obtain training and information to remain current on all federal and state requirements for the Migrant Education Program
*Maintain current knowledge of the federal regulatory standards regarding implementation of quality controls for the proper identification and recruitment of eligible migratory children on a statewide basis
*Assist the SEA in meeting the requirements to promote interstate and intrastate coordination by providing education continuity through the timely transfer of pertinent school records when children move from one school to another.
*Assist the SEA in meeting the requirement to ensure the linkage of migrant student record systems for the purpose of electronically exchanging, among the States, health and educational information regarding all migratory students.
*Promote the use of the Migrant Student Information Exchange (MSIX) to ensure the use of the consolidated migrant student record for the purposes of enrollment, placement, and accrual of credits of migrant students
Respond to routine inquiries about the Migrant Education Program; communicate professionally and effectively with co-workers and the public via telephone, email and in writing; work independently and be responsible for office operation in the absence of professional staff.
*Communicate with schools in assigned areas to collect information on migratory students enrolled in those schools.
*Enter, review, and analyze data in the Nebraska migrant state database, MIS2000.
*Adapt and be flexible to a constantly changing environment
