Summary:
Operate radiology equipment to make clinical diagnostic X-Ray films and perform routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices. Perform basic patient triage and assist patients to and from the examination rooms. Assist with direct patient care and clerical duties associated with all aspects of patient care within the clinic setting.

:1. Previous experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred. Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.2. Specialized or Technical Education Required:Current ARRT certification required. Current LA State Board of Radiological Technologist license required. Graduate of an accredited program in radiological technology required.BLS required.3. Manual or Physical Skill Required:Must be capable of performing all areas of skills required in the day-to-day management of department operations and services.4. Responsibilities:
1. Perform X-Ray images of specified body areas/parts as in compliance with physician orders maintaining established procedures and policy.2. Provide appropriate patient preparation for X-Ray procedures.3. Determine proper voltage and current and desired exposure time. Arrange, attach or adjust immobilization devices to ensure precise patient positioning, immobilization and comfort. Adjust lead shield and protective equipment to prevent radiation exposure to unaffected parts of the body. Direct ancillary personnel to a radiation free area, or provide suitable radiation protection. Ensure appropriate equipment set-up and cassette selection. Ensure equipment is appropriately located to provide the best quality and precise images.4. Process images utilizing CR and edit and verify all studies in PACS in a timely manner.5. Call patients from the waiting area in the order their chart becomes available. Obtain and record patient’s weight, height and vitals and escort patient to examination room and continue preparing the patient for the physician encounter. Document and graph on growth chart as appropriate and according to policy.6. Obtain and record vital signs, medications the patient is currently taking and chief complaint(s) and document in the patient’s medical record. Responsible for Pain Assessment and Master Problem List documentation. Reassess and document as directed. Responsible for patient education and documentation.7. Assist physician with patient examination and procedures, inclusive of set-up.8. Reassess and document as directed.9. Administer injections, perform phlebotomy, EKG’s, respiratory testing/treatment, as ordered by physician.10. Assist with aseptic and sterile dressing application.11. Issue physician’s excuse for school/work. Make copy of excuse and place in patient's chart12. Serves as PCMH team member as appropriate for clinic designation.13. Assist with stocking and maintaining supplies in the patient care areas.14. Assist with the washing, identifying and returning of instruments to Sterile Services Department for sterilization.15. Perform DOT and non-DOT drug screen and breath alcohol tests, if applicable.16. Assist with the processing of employee medical information and test results to the client in expeditious, accurate, comprehensive, and confidential manner. Assist all clients with attaining any required medical information.17. Assist with the collection and preparation for transport of patient specimens in accordance with Universal Precaution Policy, clinic and laboratory requirements.18. Assist with cleaning the patient treatment area after the patient visit is completed.19. Perform waived laboratory testing as ordered. (Refer to clinic specific laboratory policy and procedure manual)20. Perform daily quality control and clinic checklist functions as assigned. (Refer to clinic specific policy and procedure manual.)21. Attention to patient’s/significant other’s psychosocial needs by appropriate social interaction.22. Assist physicians and other staff members, as needed.23. Call in medication refills and return calls in response to patient’s messages as directed by a physician.24. Schedule hospital tests as directed by a physician. Obtain proper pre-authorization as required. Ensure procedures meet medical justification, if applicable, or have an ABN signed.25. Call patients regarding test results as directed by a physician.26. Assist in the retrieval, logging and stocking of sample medications.27. Communicate effectively by expressing ideas clearly, actively listening and always following appropriate channel of communication. Demonstrate responsiveness to others ensuring a complete follow up on matters requiring additional attention.28. Follow any other job related instructions and perform any other job related duties as requested by department management.29. Consistently attend monthly staff meetings.30.
