The Academic General Pediatric Practice (AGP) at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital (HDVCH) is adding an additional BC/BE Pediatrician with primary care pediatric experience. The new partner will enjoy working in the residency practice teaching the variety of 80+ residents (a large practice) alongside of 9 physicians and 3 advanced practice providers as well a robust support staff to meet the needs of the underserved population. Will also be a faculty member within Michigan State University (MSU).

Candidates for the position must enjoy teaching and mentoring of residents within the clinic setting and rounding within the newborn nursery. The new physician will join one other physician caring for medically complex patients in the practice but will also have a non-complex child patient panel. Mentoring and support for leadership in this space will be afforded. The new partner will enjoy the ease of working with the forty plus pediatric subspecialties at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. This position includes participation in the call schedule and newborn nursery rounding (not delivery attendance). The new partner can anticipate support for academic and scholarly work as well as involvement in evidence-based quality improvement measures.

Practice Description: The Spectrum Health Medical Group is a growing, physician-led, multispecialty practice. The HDVCH Academic General Pediatric Clinic (AGP) is a full service pediatric primary care medical home, providing well child and acute care as well as management of chronic and complex medical conditions for patients from birth to 21 years. The AGP physicians serve as the primary pediatric teaching clinic for the pediatric and internal medicine/pediatric residencies. The physicians are committed to providing evidenced-based, compassionate, comprehensive pediatric medical care and teaching. The AGP Section physicians lead the Inpatient Newborn Team providing Level 1 nursery care to 60-70% of the 8,000 deliveries annually at Spectrum Health’s Butterworth Hospital located adjacent to the children’s hospital.
