POSITION SUMMARY:

The Restricted Fund Accountant will report to the Director of Accounting and Finance and will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger, account reconciliations, and other duties related to the accounting and control of restricted fund monies. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

DUTIES: In addition to adhering to the guidelines as specified by Bevill State community College Personnel Handbook and the Alabama Community College system, duties will include but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Prepare financial reports for all Restricted Funds Programs
  • Analyze restricted fund ledger accounts and prepare appropriate adjusting entries with the approval of the Director of Accounting and Finance
  • Preform monthly reconciliations of business office records to financial aid office records by communicating with financial aid office personnel
  • Perform cash drawdowns and monthly billing for all federal and state programs
  • Serve as liaison between Restricted Program Directors and business Office
  • Distribute budgets for all Restricted Programs on monthly basis as needed
  • Serve as liaison between Federal and State Grantor Agencies and Business Office with necessary approval from the Vice President of Finance
  • Assist with cash receipt processing of Restricted Funds received from grantor agencies
  • Maintain budget and expenditure files on all Restricted Accounts
  • Perform Return of Title IV calculations, make necessary adjustments to student account, and prepare referrals to the Department of Education as necessary
  • Manage the Nelnet Student Payment Plan
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Accounting and Finance 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required. Master's Degree preferred in related field. Three years experience in accounting required.
